I am from Miami, Florida. Recently, Hurricane Irma devastated many parts of the Caribbean as well as parts of Florida. Thankfully, my family and friends are all okay. Before the storm, my family was busy preparing. This includes stocking up on food, water, and putting shutters on all the windows of the house. My mom has quite a few plants that she moved inside the house so that they would be safe from the strong winds and rain. My mom sent me this picture of her plants in the living room. In the midst of the chaos, some beauty appeared.


  

Hello Everyone!

Today, I want to show you some beautiful flowers that were given to us from an local elementary school here in Shikokuchuo-shi! We had an Eigo No Demae event there last week, and the students seemed to have a blast! Afterward, they thanked us with these lovely flowers! I was lucky enough to be the person who got to take them home. I plan to get a beautiful vase to place these in and put them somewhere that I can see them every day. Thank you to all the wonderful students at this event! I hope to see you again soon!


  

Seeing plants grow in ways we don't expect is interesting. Makes you remember that life sometimes can't be controlled. A little ironic that it happened next to a bonsai farm. It also made me think of that famous movie from the early 1990's called "Jurassic Park". Here's a really great clip about Jurassic Park's sound design. These monsters haven't existed for a long time, but those sounds needed to be created. Even something like the egg shell.

My friend described bonsai as "the art of making a tree do something it never should". I don't know if thats true, but I would like to find out one day.
