Happy New Year's!
Happy New Year's everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful time! I had an amazing time in Tokyo (so much so that I couldn't get to a computer, hahaha). I plan to talk all about what I did next time! For now though, another year has come and gone, and it is time to look to the future!
A very popular (and probably useless, haha) thing for people to do for the New Year is make resolutions, promises of they things they want or plan to do for the new year. More often than not, it is usually a promise to get healthy, either by exercising more or eating healthier food, or starting a new hobby, or giving up and old vice. The thing is, people either tend to give up or just plain forget their resolutions too soon after they are made. I didn't plan to have a resolution myself, but I was put on the spot, so I decided that I needed to travel more. I specified within Japan, which is easier to do, and there is still so much I need to explore. Hopefully this resolution won't be one that I give up on easily!

Mascots

One of my favorite things about Japan is how everything has a cute mascot. In America, typically these things are reserved for schools. My university's mascot is a penguin named Pete. He was pretty cute, but always looked a little angry. He was supposed to scare the opposing team, but really a penguin is just not that scary. He tries, though.

Poetry!

Recently one of my friends has had a chapbook of poetry published. We went to school together and I got to see a lot of these poems before they were published. I'm really excited for him. This is his first major publication. I have my own chapbook coming out sometime this Spring from another press. I look forward to seeing what the cover will look like. Nathan writes a alot of poems about nature, so the cover is really fitting.
