It's Magic

I went to Shodoshima for the first time recently and I had a great time! I went to Angel Road and Olive Park. I was also able to snag a picture of myself on a broom stick in front of the windmill that many associate with the live action film "Kiki's Delivery Service". I love that movie! My favorite of part of Shodoshima was walking around the olive garden. It was my first time seeing olives on trees. I also tried the olive ice cream and I though it was delicious. I would like to go back to Shodoshima one day.

Odd English

question

When the new year draws near I will be gliding to Tokyo on the magnificent Shinkansen. It’s convenience is legendary and I’ve heard the views between Kyoto and Tokyo are superb. But it is always a bit of a shock when I purchase my train tickets. You see, they always cost an arm and a leg! I bet you never knew that you would have to give up your limbs just to ride a train! I get to teach you something new! But not to worry, fortunately that is just a silly English expression. I like the Shinkansen but it’s not quite grand enough to get my arm and leg. I do, however, have to pay a lot of money to ride it which is just what that expression means. So, next time you hear someone say something costs an arm and a leg, not to worry! They simply mean that it is very expensive.
