My mother visited me for 2 and a half weeks here recently. It is unfortunate, but I have to say that she really disliked both Japan and Korea. She absolutely did not like the fact that in Japan it is common to sleep on the floor. She hated getting up from the floor every morning and was so amazed that I liked it! The next thing she despised was both the food in Japan and Korea. She is just so used to American food that she couldn't handle the differences of Japan and Korean food. Especially Korean food, because it has such a powerful flavor.

It is unfortunate she didn't like the places I love so much, but she never once complained and she pushed through because she knew how much it meant to me. I am very thankful she came all this way and got so far out of her comfort zone just to spend time with me. I am very lucky.
