An American Thanksgiving with a Canadian in Japan!
Hello!
This past weekend I got to experience a real special treat when I was invited to attend an American Thanksgiving dinner at one of the other Gem school teacher's apartments! For those of you who might not know, Canadians and Americans both celebrate Thanksgiving, but in Canada, we celebrate it in early October, while in the U.S., it takes place in November. I didn't get a chance to do anything for the Canadian version, so being able to take part in the American one made it doubly special.
It was a potluck dinner, which means that instead of one person cooking for everyone, everyone makes one thing and brings it for the group. I made a secret recipe Caesar Salad which was totally delicious, and the amount of amazing food that was available was staggering. There were people I knew, and lots of people I didn't, which didn't make it awkward or uncomfortable, but helped make it a real fun and friendly atmosphere.
There have been a lot of amazing things that have happened to me this year that I'm thankful for, and this dinner helped remind me to be thankful for them everyday!
