It seems like summer is the time for fireworks wherever you go, and Japan does not disappoint. With all the festivals that go on throughout the summer, fireworks big and small always seem to accompany them. Not only that, but the big fireworks shows that I have seen so far have been amazing. For example, Zenigata Festival's fireworks were done offshore on a boat, and that was the first time I have seen a show done like that. It was very nice. But recently I went to a fireworks show that puts the one in Kanonji to shame. It is apparently quite famous.
Last Saturday was the Tenjin Festival in Iyo-Mishima, but because of their fireworks show and where it takes place, it has been given another name: Minato Festival. That is because the fireworks show occurs at Iyo-Mishima port. Like at the Zenigata Festival, the fireworks were shot off a boat. However, because it was at the port and not out at sea, everyone had a much closer view of the fireworks, so they seemed bigger and louder. But they weren't only big and loud, they were beautiful and amazing!



Of all the fireworks shows I have ever been to, the Minato Festival is by far the best one I have ever experienced. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to properly experience the rest of the festival before the fireworks (I kind of wandered through a bit), but it looked like it would be a lot of fun! I definitely will try to experience more of it next year. But for now, I need to try to make it some of the other festivals as they come up. It is difficult due to the work schedule, but I hope I can catch at least one or two more!
