Something I wanted from Japan

Before coming to Japan I made a small list of things Japan is noted for that I wanted to buy while I was here. It took me a while, but I finally got one of those things last week. The first was a number of whetstones, or sharpening stones for knifes. Japan is famous for kitchen knifes, and I love to cook, and I'm always interested in maintaining my tools. Before I sharpened my kitchen knifes with other, more crude, devices which could damage the knives over time and wouldn't make the sharpest edges. So finally I bought 4 whetstones with different grades to sharpen my knife. These stones are much cheaper here in Japan and also much higher quality than what I could find in America. When I finally got them and sharpened my knife I was so impressed with how sharp it could get and how much fun the activity was.
