Journey to Kyoto! Day 1 part 2
Last time I left off talking about the house that we stayed in. So I will continue by describing what the place had to offer. It was two floors, with a kitchen, bath, living room, dining area, and a big and small bedroom upstairs. With old wooden floors, tatami, and sliding doors, it felt very traditional (though of course we had a whole bunch of modern tech, such as heated carpet, fridge, washing machine, etc).

After we all go settled in, we had to decide what to do/where to go first. After some discussion, we all decided to go and check out Fushimi Inari. So we all jumped on a bus, then a train, to get there. We also had to do a bit of walking from the station (there was quite a bit of walking for pretty much the whole trip, haha). We took in the sights as we walked. I marveled at the number of people that were out and about. It was very crowded! When we finally arrived, I was very excited. I had heard that Fushimi Inari was famous for its torii, and I couldn't wait to see them.

We walked slowly, looking at everything as we wandered through. I saw many people ringing bells and praying. I gave it a shot as well, though I wasn't really sure what to pray for. Gradually, we started making our way up to the shrine at the top. Progress was a bit slow, as there were a lot of people. Plus, it had rained slightly as well, so the walkway was a bit slippery. I was amazed when I finally saw the torii, though. There were so many! It must have taken a lot of time to make them all, as well as put them all up. It was definitely a sight to see.
Afterwards, we all went out to a restaurant for dinner (even though we initially thought to just buy food to prepare at the house to save money. Such a foolish thought, haha). It was a good first day, and I had fun with everyone. The next day was bound to be better!
