Wayfaring Part 4

PART 3
The bathroom was larger than I thought it would be. The floor was a beautiful rosewood. There was a walk in shower, a nice one at that, a nice, big tub, and a wall with a mirror stretching from floor to ceiling. There were no windows, but there was a sunlight. I walked over to the mirror and stared at myself. “What is happening to the world?” I asked aloud to no one. I reached out and touched my reflection then turned my attention to the sunlight. The sky seemed so tranquil and still, it was as beautiful as ever, but it had a new feature, that giant crack. “Is this even real? I hope it’s just a dream, and I hope I wake up soon.” I looked down, shook my head and ran my hand through my long, brown hair. “Come on Em, focus.”
I walked over to the walk in shower and opened the glass door. I turned the knobs on the side and stepped out again. I stripped my filthy clothes from my body, set them aside, and walked into the steaming shower, closing the door behind me. The steam coming off of the water felt nice, but it didn’t calm my nerves at all.
After showering, I got into the clean night robe and combed out the wet tangles in my hair. Just then, Jamie knocked on the door. “Hey, Em.... Can you hurry. You aren’t the only one who is filthy.” I could hear him chuckle on the other side of the door. I grinned. “Yeah, gimme a minute and I’ll be out.”
“‘Kay!” Jamie was always the calm, composed one. He was like a puppy sometimes, but there were times when he could be serious.
I gathered my dirty clothes and walked to the door. “Don’t forget your robe.” I said to him as I opened the bathroom door. Sure enough, Jamie was standing there, grinning like a kid who got the most amazing toy at Christmas time. “Such a kid.” I said to him, laughing. I pushed him out of the way and walked toward the guest room. “Enjoy!” I said back to him. “Aye!” is all he said. He was still grinning.
I opened the guest room door, looked back at the childish Jamie, and stepped inside, shaking my head. “Even in the most bizarre situations, he is as calm as ever.”
I set my clothes aside and began looking around the room. There were some photos, some books, a nice dresser, a huge bed, which Jamie had already set up, a floor lamp sitting next to a chair in the corner, and a small window.
I stepped over to the photos and picked one up. Rebecca was in the photo, very pregnant, with a man which I assumed was her husband. “They were a nice couple.” I smiled and set the photo aside making my way over to the books atop the night stand. “Some classics, nice. They haven’t been touched in a while...” I picked up a book and blew on it; a large cloud of dust blew off of it. “Interesting....” I put the book back and picked up the next book.
The book was old. It was leather bound with some kind of locking mechanism on the face. I began to gently brush the dust off of the book. The design on the book was beautiful. “Is this gold?” I asked as I took a closer look. I wiped away the dust covering the title and read each letter aloud.
“W-a-y-f-a-r-i-n-g... Wayfaring?”
