I went to Hiroshima over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. The last time I went there, it was many years ago and just a quick look at the memorial and the museum. This time I was able to spend some time walking around, and went to Miyajima, which was cool. For so many of us, Hiroshima only calls to mind the horror of the A-bomb, and rightly so. But it's nice to see what a nice place it is, and has managed to become again after such a terrible time. Such a tribute to the power of people to try to restore what was lost, and move on, as hard as that may be. All the same, let's hope such terrible things will never happen again. We can definitely do without them.
