Amidst the optical overload that is Shinjuku, the Yasuyo Building stands out as a beacon of elegance and an example of Japanese modernist architecture at its finest. Designed by Nobumichi Akashi and built in 1969, the narrow commercial building is famous for the Kyo Kaiseki Kakiden, a traditional restaurant which occupies the 6th, 8th, and 9th floors, with an art gallery on the basement floor. It is a must-visit if you find yourself in Shinjuku at night.
