Mitoyo Peninsula

Recently, during the Japanese O-Bon holiday season, I took a short drive from my house in Utazu to the Mitoyo City area in Kagawa and drove all around the peninsula to take in the local flavor and sites.
There were some beautiful natural views to see as I drove along. I stopped at a flower park and camping area along the coast, which was quite peaceful and soothing to take it all in. The water was calm, people were camping, fishing, and even using stand up paddle boards to glide through the water. The surroundings made me feel very much as one with nature.
Next, I continued along the main road and found an olive farm. It was closed but the gate was open, so I drove in. It is located on a hill overlooking the ocean and the view is stunning! There was a woman who was working there, but she said I could look around – so I did. There was a small coffee shop that looked out onto the local bay. Too bad it was also closed.
I continued up the road and found some small local beaches with people swimming or sunning themselves. There were also local shops and inns to stay at. The drive was so relaxing and entertaining as I drove all along the coast.
I am very happy that I decided to visit Mitoyo that day. I plan to go back and explore some more in the future. Kagawa has so much to see and do. It is natural simplicity at its best!
