For April Fools Day, the Pokemon Go game only spawned the pokemon named Slowpoke.

It turns out that the Japanese name for Slowpoke is "Yadon" which sounds close to the word "Udon". Kagawa the Udon prefecture became Kagawa the Yadon prefecture! It's kind of clever, I think.

The joke spiraled into a large campaign that I didn't know about until I wandered into the pokemon store on accident. The Takamatsu JR station had a small store set up to sell pink udon!? and Slowpoke plushies. I was also charmed by the Ehime orange pikachu.

I didn't buy anything but I'm glad I got a picture of rare pink udon noodles!
