A New Semester: Reflections
Hello Everyone!
All around the world, new school semesters are starting; this of course includes the university from which I recently graduated. As I log onto various social media sites, I am bombarded with photos and status updates that remind me of this fact. This semester is different, however. This is the first new school semester of the regular yearly cycle during which I will not be returning to attend various courses and continue the daily life to which I have become so accustomed.
Many people say that it takes the beginning of a new semester to truly realize that you've graduated, and I must agree. It feels strange seeing all the friends I left behind at uni prepping for another school year and another semester, while I am graduated and have moved onto a job directly in my field. I'm happy that I'm moving on with life, but I'll admit that it's a little bittersweet. As a teacher, I obviously love school, and I loved being a student. I know my schooling isn't over, as I'll return to go to graduate school someday, but there is a sad feeling in my heart knowing that I won't be returning to classes this week as many of my friends and family are doing.
I know this is a normal part of life, and I'm lucky to be where I am; many people never get the opportunity to attend university level education let alone actually graduate. I'll never stop learning and moving forward. I hope everyone beginning the this new semester does well in their classes and feels as motivated in school as I was. This includes my current students. Good luck everyone!
