Festal Fun
Hey, all!
I hope you all enjoyed the Halloween event! I had a ton of fun preparing for it and running the Mad Scientist booth. Thanks to everyone who helped out!
A few weeks before Halloween, one of my students said that she'd see me "on Halloween... Eve?" She wanted to say, "the day before Halloween," but I laughed... because "Halloween" already is an "Eve"! The word "Halloween" is a shortening of "All Hallows' Even." (Say it really fast!) Halloween is actually the day before All Hallows' Day, November 1st. It's part of a series of three holidays: November 2nd is All Souls' Day. Traditionally, each day from October 31st to November 2nd remembers the dead in a different way, but now we only celebrate Halloween! (However, some countries still celebrate the other holidays, often in very interesting ways.)
I'll leave you with a few of my pictures from Halloween Week, when I dressed up as a Van-Dyke-wearing Peter Pan, and my Niihama students wore many wonderful costumes!

Thank you again to everyone who participated!
