Festivals

This week I attended my first Japanese festival, the Sanuki Takamatsu Festival. I had a great time but coming from America I was really excited to see the differences in Japanese festivals. Honestly, I was a little surprised by how similar the Japanese festival is to the American State Fair or other food oriented American festivals. In America we tend to have small rides at the fair or sometimes festival, but other than that they were quite similar. Obviously, the one big difference was the references to Japanese tradition culture, by doing the dances or wearing kimonos. This was probably my favorite part because it was so different. Sadly, I wasn't able to make it to the last day of the festival because I was sick, but I did enjoy the first two days. Fireworks here are certainly a much grander affair than most American firework shows which was also a nice difference.
