As a child growing up in Michigan in winter, the most important question to ask each weekday morning was "Is it a snow day?" A "snow day" is a day that school is canceled because of snow. If there's too much snow or ice it's dangerous for school buses to drive so instead everyone stays home and plays in the snow. How do you know if it's a snow day? Watch the local news on TV. In the morning they always announce which schools are closed every 10 minutes or so, or show a list at the bottom of the screen. What's better than no school, sledding, and hot chocolate!?
