Fresh Food

The Bridge

I mentioned before that I lived in Italy for many years, and at the time no one ever ate any canned good, frozen foods, almost no processed foods. The local open air markets were always just around the corner, and it was assumed that throwing a piece of meat or fish in the frying pan, making a quick salad, and of course a plate of pasta didn't really take all that much time, and it of course tasted good, since you did it that way every day, and got very good at it. I see people now stocking up on ready to eat meals, carts full of frozen, canned, packaged foods, and wonder how their bodies must be reacting to so much processed food. It really isn't good for you. If you don't believe me, take a quick look at the ingredients on the package - preservatives, additives, so called supplements. Most of that is not to improve the flavor, or food value, but to prolong the shelf life of the product. A return to simple home cooked meals would be so nice, and so much healthier, don't you think?
