A Walk in the Park
When I attended my Japanese language school in Harajuku, we were given the opportunity to go on some field trips to visit different areas of Tokyo to experience the culture and beauty of Japan. One such field trip was to the 国営昭和記念公園 (National Showa Memorial Park) in Tachikawa. A classmate of mine and myself decided to travel together since it would be easier to go with someone rather than go by yourself. It was a fun train ride and it became even funnier when we both forgot that we were supposed to transfer from the train we were on to the another one that would take us straight to the park. Needless to say, the time we departure from our meet up spot to the time we got there made us late.
Nevertheless, we managed to make it to the park to meet up with the rest of our classmates. The main event of this outing was a barbecue. All of the classes had there own respective tents where we grilled a variety of meats and vegetables. The most important thing that we did was to converse with our classmates and to get to know each other since we were going to be learning and growing together. The entire experience was fun and since we were at the park, we had to take a walk to see how beautiful it was and let me tell you it was beautiful. We walked along different trails, explored the flower fields painted with pink, red, yellow, white, and purple flowers. There were different art installations throughout the park that you can interact with. However, the most majestic thing I came across with this large magnificent tree standing tall in the middle of the field. It felt as if it was calling me and I had to walk towards it to bask in its glory up close. It was such a serene feeling that I laid in the grass for a little bit, but had to soon get up because bees were flying around and I wasn't trying to get stung.
Nevertheless, it was an experience worth exploring and I hope anyone who is reading this has some type of experience they hold dear to them that helps them realize that there's more to the world than what we think there is.
