Kat's Stupid Storytime
As I will be on Christmas vacation and blogging in advance, I will be pausing my regular content monitoring planets and stars for the next couple of weeks.
Christmas is a time for lazing around the fire and telling stories with family and friends. So for the next few blogs, I will tell a stupid story about my childhood.
( Santa delivers gifts in the middle of the night, and is never seen by children. In the game "secret santa", each player chooses the name of a friend and tries to secretly deliver a present to that person. If you are caught, you lose the game. )
Since high school, I did a "secret santa" with my friends each year. My friends and I didn't have much money to buy expensive presents, so for my gift I decided to make a castle out of chocolate. First, I melted the chocolate into flat sheets. Once the sheets were cool, I needed a hot knife to cut shapes in the cold chocolate without breaking it.
I lit the stove and held the blade of my knife over the fire for a few seconds. I wondered if it was hot yet. I quickly touched the blade to the palm of my hand to check. It didn't feel hot, so I held it over the fire one more time and then started to cut the chocolate.
A minute later, my hand started to burn. There was a huge, triangle shaped blister on my palm. I held a piece of ice and kept working, but the pain got worse and worse. I got a strip of cloth and tied it tightly around my hand. Then I duct taped a bag of frozen peas on top of the cloth. It finally stopped hurting and I went to bed. A few hours later I realized why it didn't hurt. I had stopped the blood circulation in my wrist. I couldn't feel my hand anymore. The next day, I hid my hand in my hoodie pocket all day long. I never told anyone what happened.
