Blood Moon
This year on November 29th, just before Halloween, we might get to see the red "blood moon" caused by a lunar eclipse. When the moon passes into the shadow of the earth , instead of turning black or gray, it changes to a deep red color. This is an effect of the longer frequencies of light being filtered out by the Earth's atmosphere- the same reason the sunset looks red. Just as the moon appears to glow when viewed from Earth, the Earth's light casts a glow on the moon. Because there is no direct sunlight, the moon's only light is being bounced off the earth to the moon and back to Earth- meaning there's twice as much filtering as usual.
The eclipse will begin at 4:35 AM and end moments before sunrise, 6 AM JST.
I read about this eclipse on this website: https://spacetourismguide.com/lunar-eclipse/
