Have you ever made a jack-o'-lantern before? It's very popular in America to make jack-o'-lanterns for Halloween. Children make them and then put them outside or in a window for a Halloween decoration. Pumpkins in America are big and orange. Usually you get a pumpkin at the grocery store, but you can also visit a farm and pick the pumpkin yourself! First you have to cut off the top of the pumpkin. Next you have to scoop and scrape out all the goop and seeds inside. When your pumpkin is nice and hollow, then you can carve the face. You can make it look like whatever you want. When it is done, put your jack-o-lantern where people can see it. You can put a real candle inside of it for light, but it's safer to use an electric candle. Even if you don't have a pumpkin, you can use a different vegetable instead.
