Imabari

Imabari is a city in northern Ehime Prefecture that has many interesting things to see and do if you are interested in getting out and about in Shikoku.
The Shimanami Kaido is a 60 kilometer long bicycling route that crosses 8 bridges and 6 islands from Hiroshima to Imabari City in Ehime. It is popular with both Japanese and tourists from around the world.
The city also has a castle that is well know as one of three castles on the sea (Mizujiro); the other two being Takamatsu Castle in Kagawa and Nakatsu Castle in Oita.
Finally, there is a dedicated towel and textile museum in Imabari. The area is blessed with clean and soft water that is used in towel production, which began in the city in 1894. The quality and standards of Imabari towels are well known in Japan. They even have a 5-second rule when testing their towels. When the towel is placed in water it will sink in 5 seconds to confirm its absorbency or it will not meet the quality level for an Imabari towel.
Imabari is a small but interesting city with plenty to see and do. I hope you will have a chance to stop by and experience all that it has to offer.
