The Nain Rouge (French for "red dwarf") also called "Demon of the Strait", is a legendary creature of the Detroit, Michigan area. It is of French origin, and uses a ritural that's a little bit like Setsubun. Every year, people hold a parade and chase away the Nain, also chasing away misfortune. Everyone wears masks and a different costume, so that the Nain will not recognize them the next year.

Because Michigan has a strong goth/witchy culture, there is a Nain support parade too! The two parades do not actually fight, it's all just for fun.
