General Conference
Every April and October, my church has a worldwide conference. When I lived in Japan, I stayed up all night on Saturday night and Sunday night to watch it live over the Internet, sometimes going to work on Monday morning just an hour or two after the conference ended. Because I was awake and online at the same time as my American relatives, it was also a convenient occasion to call or have video chats with my family.

Watching the conference live is an important tradition for my family and subculture. As for me and my house, we prepare a large number of special small dishes to snack on throughout the weekend. Fancy crackers with small slices of meat and cheeses, olives and small sweet pickles, carrots and celery with ranch dip, chips with hummus or guacamole, and late on Saturday night: root beer floats. We prepare quiet games to keep the small children occupied so the adults can focus on the religious teaching.
What are your favorite religious events and rituals?
Thanks for reading!
