Ocean Breeze
For all of my life, I have lived near the ocean or sea. I grew up in Miami, Florida, just a short drive away from South Beach. My family is also from Puerto Rico, so anytime I went to visit family there, we were surrounded by the ocean. For college, I stayed in Florida so I was still near the ocean. Now, for the past 2 and a half years, I've lived in Takamatsu, Japan, which is right by the sea. I enjoy cycling to Sunport very much just to look out at the water. I have met some other teachers that grew up "landlocked", which means being surrounded by land, or in the case of the US, other states, far away from the ocean. I realized I've never really imagined living away from the ocean. I've been so spoiled to have always had it near me that the idea of living away from it never really occurred to me. I know living by the water has influenced me a lot. From the food I eat (I love seafood) to the daydreams I have about the beach, it's sand and the ocean breeze. I'm grateful I've always been able to stay near the water.
