Scientific discovery near my American town
A few weeks ago, a large part of Michigan and some parts of Canada heard a loud booming sound. The sound shook the ground a little. They also saw a huge flash of light. My friends and family assumed that it was lightning and thunder (extremely rare for winter).
It was a meteor!
It burned up in the atmosphere and didn't crash to earth. It was very exciting to hear about, and some people have now been finding pieces of the meteor near my hometown of Brighton! People finding meteorites have posted their GPS coordinates to help scientists find the path of the meteor.
