Wild Animals in Shikoku
Hi Everyone!
Today I want to talk about animals in Shikoku, or rather, the lack of wild animals. While I didn't expect there to be many wild animals in Tokyo, I certainly expected there to be many in Shikoku because of the ever present nature surrounding the towns; however, other than the occasional flock of birds and the outrageous amount of insects everywhere, I haven't seen many animals around, and I must admit it's rather sad. In Ohio, we have tons of squirrels everywhere, deer, and stray cats among other adorable critters. I've heard there's wild boar here and raccoon dogs, but I haven't seen any, even when I go to the mountains or go out at night. I'm also very surprised by the lack of stray cats, but I did catch one a few weeks ago; it was very sweet, and I really enjoyed petting it. A rude pigeon also moved into the tree outside my apartment and it's been waking me up every morning. So rude.
If anyone knows a place known for rich amounts of wildlife, I'd really like to know. I really enjoy seeing wildlife and spending time in nature. I'd be ecstatic to see a live racoon dog!
