Kyoto weekend hostel
I went to Kyoto this past weekend. I stayed for one night at a brand new hostel that opened last March (I think). It doubles as a cafe, one which opens at 7:30am and stays open until 10pm, or maybe even 11pm. I don’t remember exactly. It was opened and is ran by a local-born who worked in Toulouse, France for two years and then in Kagawa for awhile. Once he retired from his work in Kagawa he moved back to his hometown to start his own hostel/cafe. It was a wonderful experience, affordable, hip, and equipped with toiletries and amenities like laundry, fridge, two separate bathrooms, and airconditioning! The best part though was the owner himself. Worldly, calm, respectful, and interesting, having been in the coffee world for years and has an ear for Chicago blues and classical music. Pictured is a 400¥ simple breakfast at the cafe part of his hostel.
