Making Mistakes at the Coin Laundry

This may sound very silly, but I have never been to the coin laundry in Japan. I hate that my towels are always so hard from drying outside and that I loose softness every time I wash my room wear. The other teachers and I discussed going to a coin laundry.
The place was small, but we spent a long time thoroughly translating all of the signs on the wall and the machines so we knew what to do. My first mistake was dropping in a coin into the dryer when nothing was in there yet! I opened the door and saved it for later. Oops
We choose a larger washer/dryer combo to do and I accidentally chose to dry, not wash. Oops.
Michael and I stared at the largest machine for a long time, debating on whether my futon mat would fit inside. We got too scared and he took it to another place while I waited for our loads to finish washing (correctly!). At the other place, he got some help from a friendly lady and got the futon washed. That place was more expensive.

In the end, we both learned a lot and I happily got to feel soft towels again.
