Halloween has come and gone, ending with our big Halloween event on Saturday. It seemed to be a big success, though I couldn't really tell, as I was in the Haunted House for most of the time. It especially didn't help that I was in the center of the Haunted House, so I couldn't really peek out at any moment either. I was a bit disappointed in the Haunted House, or at least my section of it. We had the whole thing covered with black curtains, so that it would be dark and spooky. Unfortunately, the curtains in my section had come undone, and I had a whole bunch of light coming in from one wall and the ceiling. So, instead of having a dark and slightly spooky room, it wasn't much (in my opinion) as the props I had would have benefited from a dark room. Plus, we had the news come by! NHK was there to film the event, and of course they had to come through the Haunted House. I was so embarrassed by the state of my section. I wish I was able to do something. To make up for the fact that it wasn't scary, I tried to be goofy instead. It didn't work out well, at least not for everyone, and of course the older kids weren't into it at all, which made it more difficult. The rest of the event went pretty smoothly though, and the clean-up as well. And with that, we were officially done with Halloween!

Now to think of something for the next holiday: Thanksgiving! Obviously it won't be anything big like Halloween, but we still need to think of something fun to do. The easiest thing to go for is some sort of pot luck, because when I hear Thanksgiving, I think "Food!". But that is so normal, plus it's hard to use more traditional foods, as some ingredients are hard to come by. I want to do something fun, like a game, especially for the kids. I tried something last year, though it didn't turn out so well. So now I need to come up with some other ideas. I could probably do a Thanksgiving story, though many kids may not want to sit through one, haha. Well, I will plan something out, and hopefully it will work out for the best!
