Fairy Tales

When I say Fairy Tale what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Some Wizards and Witches? Hobbits and Dragons? Mermaids and Pirates? If you are from my generation you probably thought of something Disney, and really who could blame you, we grew up with Disney pushing one love fairy tale onto the big screen and then another and then another. Generally, in the world Fairy Tales are simply Tales or Legends that have some moral meaning in the end, be it true love exists or never lie, etc. Many films have been made after the true love fairy tale genre; Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Cinderella. All films where a beautiful Princess ends up needing rescuing by some Prince. It hasn't been until quite recently though that we realized there is a different kind of true love. The movie Brave thrust the power of familial love into the spotlight a few years ago and since then it has become quite popular in both Maleficent and Frozen. I think pretty much all people believe love is a powerful thing but I think that until recently a lot of people forgot about the other kinds of love. As Humans we have the blessing to feel love in many ways. There is affection, friendship, romance, and unconditional love. We all strive to find partners who can give us all four types of love and many people, in their search, forget about their own blood. Their families. I hope to see many more types of true love hit the screens, I would also love it if they highlighted some of the other key features of success. Loyalty, Dignity, and Honor.
