Churrasqueira
I recently went back to Canada to visit family and friends. What I came back to Canada with was a giant appetite for food that I couldn't find as easily in Japan. One of the cravings I had was for Portuguese cuisine. I was born and raised in Canada but my parents came to Canada from Portugal in the 1970's. Although I grew up with so many different types of food, the most frequent cuisine I ate growing up was, of course, Portuguese food.
The most notable food that I missed was Churrasqueira (Pronounced Shu-ra-skay-ra). Now, a Churrasqueira is a traditional BBQ grill were you cook many different types of meat, or fish, or vegetables. With that description it may sound like Yakiniku but it's prepared different. The most common meat in this cuisine is chicken.
Here is what a Churrasqueira looks like:

Chicken usually comes out looking like this:

Look's delicious huh?! Well when I went home that was the first food craved. Here is a picture of a common Churrasqueira dish:

If you ever get a chance and come across a Portuguese (Or Brazilian) restaurant in your travels, do give it a try.
