The entire time I have been in Japan, I have been on the lookout for, what I consider a regular table. The only real requirement is that it reach up to my chest while sitting down. Eating on the kitchen counter got old after a while, and kneeling down at a little table wasn't cutting it. During our last holiday, I went to a store in Takamatsu to buy a little table I found, but instead of getting it in a box to put together later, they gave me the table on display. No problem, I just had to carry it on my shoulder through the city and train. It was amusing. This piece of furniture is now part of my humble abode.
