Transportation in Japan is very different from what I know from my experiences in Texas. In Texas, in order to get to the store, to school, or to work, you had to own a vehicle, or you would walk. Many stores were very far from peoples homes and some areas had no public transportation to speak of. Since Texas is such a large state, having a vehicle is, essentially, a requirement for daily living; however, in Japan a car is not a necessity so to speak. There are trains, buses, taxi's, and many stores are within walking or biking distance. Living in Japan, and learning how to use the Japanese transportation system makes me wish that there was such convenience in Texas. We have busses and some trains, but they are limited in their destinations. I really enjoy riding on the trains here, and I love the closeness of everything. It is an amazing experience.
