Red Sun

Although the forecast was predicted to rain through the evening, the clouds passed quickly leaving a thick layer of humid air in their wake, creating a red effect. Both the sun and the crescent moon were clearly visible from Kanonji and cast a stunning red light. I took this photo from Ichinomiya park just seconds after the sun vanished below the horizon. Lightning continued to strike in the distance, but it was too far away to be audible. After darkness fell, some tiny blue bio luminescent spots were visible in the water below. The evening wasn't particularly good for stargazing as it was still hazy, but later this week should be a good time to view Saturn, which reaches opposition on the 27th.
