Rules of Engagement.

Rules of Engagement.
Rules of Engagement.

I'm going to my first wedding soon as an adult. It'll be a Japanese wedding as well. I've learned a few things about how they are different from what I know back home.

This card is a pretty good example. See where I've crossed out some things with a pen? Those ご are very formal ways of asking "will you be coming?", and I as a guest should X them out when I return the card. "Yes, I will come" sounds better than "O verily, I will grace you with my presence." I've also crossed out the kanji 行 for an honorific. The person who asked me to come is being referred to very kindly by writing 様。

When you come to a Japanese wedding, you should also bring a letter with some money. You go to a bank, and ask for crisp, fresh money strait from the money farm. They say you bring 30000 Yen if you are friends, 50000 Yen if you are family.

Tell me any other tips I should know. Can I still request music from the DJ?

Till we meet again
