Gilligan's Island is a show that is a little older, but was still a beloved part of many American childhoods. It is about a group of seven people who were on a three-hour boat tour. The weather became stormy, and the ship crashed on a deserted isle. The people had to learn how to live on the island together and faced all kinds of dangerous situations. They are almost rescued several times, but something always happened to make them not get rescued.

You would think this is a drama show, but it isn't! It's a comedy show, and it's very funny. The main character, Gilligan, is very silly and always doing ridiculous things. It's a great show for the whole family to laugh at.



This show was popular when my mom was a kid! There were only three seasons of the show, and the first season was only in black and white! I watched it when I was a kid too, and I really enjoyed it. Have you ever seen this show before?  

June is the best month! It's not too cold or hot. The flowers are in bloom. In America, school is almost finished for the year. For me, June is also birthday time! It's not only my birthday, but my father's, sisters, and even my favorite idols! Giving and receiving presents in the middle of the year (and Christmas) is a perfect balance. Because of shipping prices, I am a bit behind on shopping for my family. I've been buying things here and there. Hopefully I will be ready to send them a nice package soon!

  

Wow, it’s June already! Time seems to be speeding up with each passing week here in Japan. I’ve been so preoccupied with work and college that I haven’t had much time to play video games or read for pleasure, two of my favorite pastimes. Still, I do find a little time to play two mobile games in my day.

The first is Dragon Quest Walk. Tony, being a Dragon Quest fan, talked me into giving it a try and now I am hooked. Similar to Pokémon Go, this game uses your real-time location to simulate a fantasy world in your surroundings. It encourages you to walk as much as possible to collect resources and take on monsters. It’s helped me walk more throughout the week and encouraged me to walk around Kanonji and see more of the city. I’ve had a lot of fun discussing this game with my coworkers and students. I have one student who has played this game for five years! It’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend it if you need an excuse to walk more. Check out my cute character!

The second game is one that I have played on and off for many years called Words with Friends. I play it with my mom every day. It’s been a nice way to stay connected and be able to do something fun together from so far away.

My mom is a Scrabble (the original word game of this style) champion, so it isn’t often that I beat her at the game. Still, it’s a lot of fun and a great way to work my brain. It has also inspired me to try to play a similar game with my students. I have one teen student who enjoys word games, so we have been trying to play something like this with cards at the end of his class.

I love cooking for myself. You can control the amount of seasonings you use to ensure that the taste is to your liking. Since living in Shikokuchuo, I've had the opportunity to better my health by cooking for myself. As much as Shikokuchuo is a beautiful place, it's not a place where you can easily access fast food, which I consider an upside since I can manage my health more responsibly and my finances.

The best part is that I can take my time enjoy what I've cooked and relish in the deliciousness of my homecooking.
