I'm here to let you guys in on a big KFC secret: KFC is so much better in Thailand. Sorry to break it to you, I know it hurts to hear. But why would I claim something so outrageous? There are three reasons. Number one: Spicy Zabb Chicken. Nothing is more sad than knowing that this delicious spicy chicken is trapped in the country of Thailand instead of shared with the entire world- it is diabolically delicious. If you are a spicy lover, this is the way to go. If you like things that taste good and can't handle spice, get it anyway and just bring the tissues. Reason number two: they've got mashed potatoes with gravy. This is a staple at KFC's in America too, and I forgot just how good that pile of molten, savory potatoes are...so good you just can't wait for it to cool down. Reason number three: egg tarts. These pop up all around Asia, and the ones at KFC are just perfection. Crispy, flaky, eggy...wow. What do I have to do to convince USA KFC to adopt these delicacies??

For my birthday this year I got a special gift. I don't get to see if for nine months because it is growing, but it is already the best birthday gift I have ever gotten. Can you guess what it is?


It's a baby!

I went to Beppu! It was awesome. I saw the seven different hot hot springs there. This one was red, like blood! Wow!  

For the second half of my trip I journeyed from Fukuoka to Beppu! One of the first things I did was visit the hells! They were really cool but they were really smelly and I didn't like that!  

I went to a small restaurant in Takamatsu located near Takamatsu Station Shopping Street area. The place specialized in grill-cooked burgers with and egg and cheese on top of the meal. Vegetables are served on the side, along with potato salad and a drink. The cost was about 1,000 yen.

The meal was delicious and the taste was great! It was cooked to your liking and you could sit at the counter while they cooked it in front of you. Definitely, I would return to this place!
  

One of my hobbies is doing origami. I really like making fun new things! A while ago, my mom bought me a Totoro origami kit for my birthday. Here is a picture of the catbus face and the small Totoro I made.




The small Totoro even has a little tail!

I’ve been craving meat these past few months. I look for a barbecue place to eat at every weekend. It’s just too good.

This time, I went to a place near my apartment. WOW. It was cheap and delicious. You could never get something like that where I am from for so cheap.


Do you like barbecue?   

One of the main causes of anxiety for people in my generation is making phone calls. We simply have a lot of trouble doing it! It's ironic, that we are all very much into our phones, yet do not actually use them for calls. This anxiety is doubled when you have to make the phone call in another language! I was able to make a reservation in Japanese last week. I felt really good when I was done. I felt very accomplished. I hope the next time I can do it just as well!  

On Sunday as I watched the sun set over the river, I noticed an abundance of low clouds in the sky. Although
the sunset itself was not very colorful, I found it interesting how the low hanging cotton-candy clouds in the glowed neon pink against the dark gray background of rain clouds. I've never studied clouds before, but since this blog is an opportunity to educate myself about new new things, I decided to try and find out what they're called.
Clouds are organized by their height in the sky, shape texture, and ability to produce precipitation (rain or snow). According to most of the guides I read, dense cotton-shaped clouds tend to hang low, while the wispy broken-up types are listed as higher up in the atmosphere. It struck my as odd that these guides didn't mention thin wispy clouds hanging underneath dark gray ones. While I'm not confident for sure, my best guess is that they are stratocumulus. According to my favorite beginners guide (linked below), stratocumulus clouds are often misidentified because they look similar to stratus clouds in shape (flat and wispy, allowing the sunlight to shine through) but are closer to the ground like cumulus clouds.

I've just realized over the past two months how busy I've been! Almost every weekend I've been going out with friends and traveling to different towns. No wonder I've been feeling so tire lately! I think this weekend, I'm going to stay at home and get some rest, it's been so much fun, but very exhausting. This weekend will be all about taking a good rest before Summer Tour.  

Effective communication is the key to building strong relationships, both personal and professional. It involves not only speaking clearly but also listening actively and empathetically. When we communicate effectively, we foster understanding, resolve conflicts, and build trust with others. By honing our communication skills, we can express ourselves authentically, convey our ideas persuasively, and foster meaningful connections that enrich our lives.  

Kochi is one of my favorite places to visit because it has one of my favorite things: insanely delicious food! Whenever I go, I always have to get the tacos from Masataco. Nothing beats homemade corn tortillas- tacos are one of the things I miss most about the states. This winter I finally got to try oden for the first time- I had lots of fun sampling the different skewers, and I enjoyed it more that I thought I would. I can't talk about food in Kochi without talking about the katsuo no tataki- the most amazing seared tuna in the world! It makes my mouth water just thinking about it...  

Next weekend is Father's day. Happy Fathers day to all of our dads. I hope you have time to spend with your children and have fun this weekend! You rock!. Be sure to read my blog next week for a special fathers day blog.


  

I went to Oita! I ate bungo beef, Oita’s wagyu, while I was there and it was great!! But the best part? The yuzu pepper paste that came next to it!  

Unfortunately, at the beginning of Golden Week I was feeling sick so I wasn't able to explore too much. But that didn't stop me from going out and taking a walk through this gorgeous park!  

I recently made an attempt to make my own risotto at home. It was relatively simple. Risotto is a rice-based dish that is very simple to make and quite tasty.

The ingredients included:
Chicken broth, butter, yellow onion, garlic, rice, lemon juice, parmesan cheese, black pepper, and basil.

After preparing and mixing all together for about 15 minutes, it was ready to serve. The taste was fairly good (or so I thought). Give it a try if you are interested!
  

When the baby rabbits were big enough, we took them out on the lawn so they could play and nibble on the grass. They were so tiny and cute!



We put them all in a pen so they wouldn't run off. The pen kept the mama rabbit inside, but the holes were actually big enough that the baby rabbits could get out. The holes look like they would be small enough, but the baby rabbits were pretty tiny underneath all of their fluff. We had to keep an eye on them!

Hello people!!!

Another week, another adventure. This time my adventures took me to Mitoyo. Mitoyo is very small compared to a place like Takamatsu, but Mitoyo’s beauty is impressive.

The island I explored was gorgeous. It wasn’t too far from the main land until the tide started to rise that I realized how terrifying it would be to ge stuck on an island (even if it is close to the main land).  

I had the opportunity to work in Sakaide again. I lived in Sakaide 5 years ago, so it was fun to see what had changed or stayed the same. I was super happy to see クックチャム in the station and happily got some things for my lunch. I saw a few more restaurants on my walk too. Plus, there is a Starbucks near my old apartment! Wow, that was a shock.
