Mushroom Burger
In Seoul I had a tasty mushroom burger! Since I don't eat meat, I'm always on the hunt for vegetarian spins of classic dishes such as a hamburger. I've had a soy burger in Japan, but this burger's "patty" was a hearty mushroom with breading on the outside. It was so yummy it's inspired me to make my own at home. I love mushrooms and I think there a great substitute for meat.

Keep Your Chin Up

I was walking home one day
When I saw a crow
Sitting in a branch with its head hanging low.
“Why so sad?”
I asked the bird.
“Yesterday the wind blew so much
My little house flew out of the tree
So now I must build it all over again.”
“That is a bother.” I said thoughtfully.
“You has best get started
Or you will have nothing to sleep in tonight.”
“I suppose...” said the crow.
“But I am just so sad
I do not want to do anything!”
“Keep your chin up!” I said with a smile.
“What?” Said the crow.
“Will pointing my chin up really help me gather sticks?”
“Of course not,” I chuckled.
“But trying to be cheerful will!
Think happy thoughts and maybe
You can get on with picking up your sticks!
For that, is what it means to keep your chin up!”

Another Great Week
January 21, 2019
Well, I have to say that I had another fabulous week teaching at Gem. The students were very attentive, and were truly ready to learn the English language.
It is a sense of fresh air that the students I have been teaching so far are so excited to learn and really try as hard as they can during their 30 or 50 minutes classes.
Another cool thing that has happened has to do with my Home Stay Club. I have students from many different ages, and the older students have really taken upon themselves to help and assist the younger students in many different areas.
It is truly unbelievable to see them work together. What a great group of kids in this Home Stay Club held every Saturday for 3 hours in the afternoon.
I am looking forward to another super week at Gem.
