Over the break I went to Seoul for 4 days. I had a lot of fun but it was SO COLD. Oh my goodness! I knew it would be cold so I prepared the proper clothes so I could stay warm while the temperatures were below freezing. Although it was freezing, it didn't snow and I was thankful for that. It was nice and sunny with clear blue skies that made were wonderful sunsets. My favorite part of Seoul was visiting Seoul tower. It was really great to see the views from the tower. I also enjoyed the food very much. I love spicy food and everything was spicy there! I'm really glad I was able to visit another country over the break this year. Now I'm thinking what the next place will be!

  

I was walking home one day,
Feeling mad and sad and sorry for myself,
When a crow flew up to me.

“Your face looks so gloomy,
It makes the warm sun feel damp and dreary.
Whatever could have happened?” it croaked.

“Well, you see,” I said sadly,
“I dropped my ice cream and tripped on a root.
So now I have no dessert and my toe rather hurts.”

“Hmm,” said the crow,
“That is unfortunate
But I don’t understand why you are still sad.
You can do nothing about it now.
I suggest you get over it.”

I paused from my walk.
I thought and I thought.
Then I said,
“I don’t understand.
I got over my ice cream the moment it fell.
I took one big step and stepped on over.
But if I had gotten over that root the first time,
I would not have hit my toe!
It seems unhelpful that I should go back to step over it again!”

“Ha ha ha,” the crow laughed.
“No, that would be silly! And, the opposite of what I suggest!
No, no, to get over it you must forget about it!
Being sad won’t give back your ice cream or fix your toe!
Besides, your sad face is bothering me.
So, I suggest you get over it and think of something happy.
Then you will be better and I can enjoy the sun again!”

“Well, I am still sad and I don’t want to be glad.
Why you are so bothered by my feelings I don’t understand.
Maybe you are the one that needs to get over it!
I won’t be sad forever but give me a moment!”

“Hmph.” said the crow. “It seems we won’t agree.
I suppose I can tell when my advice is not wanted.
Then, I will go but next time be more careful
So your ice cream does not fall and your toe does not hit a tree.
Then, most importantly, your sad face won’t distract me
From the warmth of the sun on my perch.”

And with that, off he flew.
I’m not sure I felt any better.
I may have felt worse.
But now, at least, I had a new phrase I could say as I pleased.

It was so good to be back in the classroom after 2 weeks on vacation.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my vacation back to the United States of America to see our family, and I also love being in the classroom teaching our young people English. What more could I ask for than to be a teacher.

I also had the wonderful opportunity to spend 2 days in our Yashima school, and that was a blast. Great kids, and was a lot of fun.

I will be teaching at this school for a bit of time. Looking forward to it.

Can't wait for another great week, and am looking forward to working with everyone in Gem.
