Udon and foods, a sequel
I can’t stop eating udon! There are several reasons that I have come up with to explain my ongoing need for this stuff. For one thing, it’s super convenient to attain. It’s cheap and abundantly located around my area. Consequently I have realized that my budget is drastically much less than what it has been since my arrival to this island. Whenever I go to work I go with abandon to an udon shop to satisfy my drive, and then when I come home from work I make sure to stop by the local groceries to pick up some leftover sushi at a discount price. Lately I have been trying to practice my Japanese at the udon shop counters, like how to order egg and how to ask for four balls of udons when needed. That is another reason for how I have been keeping myself guilt-free at these bouts for udon, because it helps me learn the language. Well, I guess I am learning, but slowly, at the rate of one bowl of udon a day. I am not even sure if it is saving me the time that it would have taken normally were I to cook my own dishes. One negative consequence of my daily tastings is the increased acne and perhaps blood pressure from drinking all of the soups leftover after my gobbling up of the noodles themselves. In fact, I think I will go out for some right now!

THEY'RE HERE!!
My parents are finally here in Japan! I'm so happy!
We just returned from a really wonderful weekend in Tokyo, Ikebukuro to be exact. We stayed in the Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel and spent a lot of time shopping and eating together. We had an amazing meal in the fancy restaurant in the hotel, we also visited Sunshine City, I never wanted to leave! Now that we're back home in Kanonji we're planning on relaxing and showing my parents around our Japanese home town. They really enjoyed the drive from the Takamatsu airport, the countryside here is so beautiful.
I'm so happy I get to have them with me all week, it will be so hard to say good-bye next Monday.
Here's a picture of all of us in the restaurant, you can even see the Sky Tree in the background.

I can't wait to spend time together with them here in Kanonji, and on the weekend we're going to Osaka.

A silver week trip to Hiroshima
I took a trip to Hiroshima last Sunday! I went with fellow teachers Taylor and Kristen. We had a great time.
We ate Okonomiyaki, which was delicious.

From there, we walked along the shotengai to the peace park. I was surprised at the number of foreigners who were there.

On the way into the peace park we passed the famous a-bomb dome. It was incredible. There aren't many other words to describe it.

Afterwards we found that Oktoberfest was nearby, so we stopped in for some sausage and cheese.
Overall it was a fantastic trip. I can't wait to go back!
