Of course, most people in Japan probably don't realize, but NY is much bigger than Manhattan. Haha, what I mean by that is, most people only have the image of New York City when they hear the name "New York". But the state of New York is very big, and has many other things to offer.
My fiance and I actually spent a bit of time on Long Island, as my mother and sister live out that way. I took her to see one of the many beaches you can go to on the island. This one was pretty close to my mother's home, and my mother goes often. That's because there is a little shack on the beach walkway, where you can buy food and drinks, and listen to a live band play every now and again. We didn't have a chance to do that, though.
I was also lucky enough to be in New York for my "sister's" wedding. It was really by pure chance that we would be there at the same time, but I was glad to be able to celebrate with everyone. I even got my fiance to dance one slow song with me (she doesn't really dance much, and she became very embarrassed. It was cute, hahaha).
All in all, the vacation seemed too short. There were still many people I didn't get to see, and lots of things I didn't get to do (and lots of food I didn't get to eat). Hopefully I will have a chance the next time I am out that way!
