A helping hand... or two!
The other day I was walking from Joyful to Zagzag with a new GEM teacher. We were walking towards Tsutaya and we noticed a little girl who was maybe 2 years old crying by a van. I thought maybe her mother was inside getting something, but as we gt closer we realizeed that both of her parents weren't there. She saw us and got scared and ran around the van. WE both ran to make sure she didn't get hurt, and then I went into Tsutaya to try and get the staff to help us. As I was trying to expalin the situtation, her father came running over. WE left and went to go get our shopping finished. we ran into the family again and they thanked us again, and gave us some very fancy waffle cookies.
It was a very different reaction from what would have hapened in North America. In north AMerica there is a 50/50 chance the parents would have thanked me or they would have yelled at me for silly reasons. I was very touched by how nice and kind the parents were with having two strange foreigners trying to help their young child. It was very touching.
