Oh my! What could this be? It's so cute! It looks like a squirrel.

Last weekend, my sister told me that she and her boyfriend got a sugar glider as a pet! We call it a sugar glider because it loves sweet foods (like fruits) and can glide through the air. I didn't know that American pet stores were selling these animals, but lots of people have said that they make good pets.

Sugar gliders came from Australia and Indonesia rain-forests. They are from the same family as the koala, which might be why they love to be in pouches, pockets, and bags! They are very intelligent and good for people with allergies (like myself). They are nocturnal animals (meaning that they're awake in the night time) but they can be trained to be awake when everyone else is.

When I go back to visit my sister, I'm going to have a very unique roommate!
