Gaming
A few weeks back I wrote about my biggest hobby, cars, so I thought today I'd write about another hobby of mine: gaming.
I've been playing video games for a long, long time, and unlike some people I never "grew out" of them. I've owned most of the major consoles of the last 20 years, and I currently own a US-market Xbox 360 which I brought over when we moved here.
A few of my adult students share this hobby with me, and we've talked a bit about games. I've played a few Japanese games in the past, but this was years ago -unless "Gran Turismo" counts. My students seem to value story more than action in their games, and I agree for the most part. I love having a good time in my games, and action is important, but I also think that using that action to tell an interesting story is absolutely essential.

That's why I love the "Fallout" series of games. They are RPG's (role playing games) but they have a sick sense of humor, and the latest versions play a lot like an FPS (first person shooter). They are set in a post-apocalyptic future with a distinctly '50s American vibe that is addicting.
