I was playing go fish with some students the other day. On the goldfish cards were pictures of American porcelain dolls. I thought they were very frightening for children games, but a Japanese staff member informed me that Japan had similar kind of dolls. It is said in an old legend that a boy gave this doll to his sister Okiku. And then the doll was donated to a Japanese temple in Hokkaido. I thought the doll was very scary. And it is also said that the doll's hair grows... Pretty scary huh?
