Tipping

When you travel to the U.S. it's very important to remember to tip. Servers in restaurants and bars make a very low salary, and rely on tips for their income. A tip should be about 15-20% of the value of your final bill. You pay it when you pay the bill. It can usually be paid in cash or by credit card.
Always tip:
- At sit down restaurants
- At bars
- Hair stylists
- Taxi drivers
- Casino workers
- Food delivery people (i.e. the pizza man)
You don't have to tip (but you can if you'd like):
- At coffee shops
- At fast food restaurants
- At normal retail stores
- Mail carriers
Tipping shows that you appreciated the service you received. A high tip tells the server they did a great job!
