Vested Interests
For those unfamiliar with the term, a vested interest means someone arguing in favor of something, while benefiting personally from your agreeing to what they propose, like someone praising a product without telling you that they get a commission if they sell it. We have the unfortunate example of politicians who don't prosecute corruption, who are themselves beneficiaries of healthy political contributions from the people they should be prosecuting. A good example is U.S. banks. They have admitted in court to money laundering on a huge scale, to "cooking the books" working with criminal organizations, and no one has gone to jail. The same goes for the nuclear lobby. They tell us the benefits of nuclear power, the safety of it, but are making huge amounts of money by not stating the obvious facts that it is intrinsically unsafe, and a threat to the existence of life on earth. They continue to push for the selling of nuclear plants, even as the situation in Fukushima remains essentially out of control, with no real assessment possible. The mass media are in cahoots with them, and reassure an uninformed public, distracting them. Don't accept the hype. Find out what real doctors and engineers are telling us about the situation, not just the politicians, and the employees of the company respsonsable for the mess. The future of your children is at stake.
