A Pronunciation Joke

A man went to Hawai'i to visit his friend. As they were driving around the island, his friend explained how, unlike English, the Hawai'ian language always pronounce all the vowels as written. As they drove into the city, the man practiced by reading street signs and trying to sound them out correctly.

The man thought he was doing well. He saw the next sign and read it carefully: "Pi-Pe-Li-Ne."

His friend said, "No, man, that's a pipeline."

A Pronunciation Joke

Why it's funny:
This joke is better spoken than written. The man says ピペリネ with Hawai'ian pronunciation, when it's actually an English word, correctly pronounced パィプラィン.
